Description

BluCem GeoSpray™ is a one component cementitious powder, which requires only the addition of water to form a high performance, fibre reinforced, geopolymer structural mortar.

Uses

BluCem GeoSpray™ has been designed with natural mineral polymers and recycled industrial waste to give a high strength, ultra low porosity material. Due to its unique formulation, it is designed for rehabilitation of pipes, culverts, sewers, tunnels, bridges and other civil infrastructure.

The Geopolymer product line is split into two individual solutions – GeoRoc and GeoSpray.

These products are geopolymer mortar systems that are designed for structural rehabilitation of both sewer and storm water infrastructure. Formulated for centrifugal casting of large diameter pipes, but strong and tough to match any cement mortar on the market.

What is a Geopolymer?

Geopolymers were discovered in the early 1970s by a French scientist who realised that under optimal conditions, the components could react with one another to create an extended polymeric network. From this point, civil engineers and scientists alike have worked tirelessly to develop commercially viable geopolymer solutions for use in the industrial industry.

However, the problem for many years was that to activate the raw materials, scientists were required to add harsh chemicals. As such, the product was only suitable for use in the laboratory – not the construction site.

Fortunately, after many years, a US company developed the first water-activated geopolymer mortar product of its type to become commercially available. The product has elements of the 1970s discovery, but also the physical and chemical advantages of geopolymeric materials – perfect for easy use and employment in the Australian civil engineering industry.

One of the true advantages of the Geopolymer range over traditional cement mortars is the fact that our product as the chemistry of an engineered stone. Similar to zeolites or quartz, its chemical structure is tough, strong and can handle any chemicals that come its way.

Environmental advantage

With many mortars available on the market filled with chemicals and other substances, this is where the Geopolymer line stands out from the crowd. Our line is made from 50 to 70 per cent recycled industrial waste from coal fired power stations and industries such as steel manufacture.

Not only does this make it safe for workers who are operating in confined spaces, civil engineering businesses are able to use a product that is clean and green – compared to its rivals.
